Former Dodgers Manager Betting Odds Favorite for Milwaukee Brewers Opening
Around baseball, there are still multiple teams searching for their new manager as the offseason starts to get going. Teams know that they need to land their new leader sooner rather than later since it does help when free agent negotiations begin.
Players want to know who they will be playing under, so it’s crucial that organizations get things in place before the signings start happening. One of the more interesting jobs still available comes from the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee won the NL Central last season, but they are expected to hold a potential fire sale this offseason.
This could make managers hesitant to take the job, but they do still have talent on the roster, for now. One name that has been circulating for the Brewers is former Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, and it seems that his name is gaining steam quickly.
Mattingly is currently the favorite to land the Brewers job, according to BetOnline. He has 3/1 odds to be hired, with Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy sitting right behind him with 5/1 odds.
Mattingly could be a solid option for the Brewers, as he brings plenty of experience to the table. After leaving the Dodgers, he spent time with the Miami Marlins for a few seasons, before taking a role with the Toronto Blue Jays last year.
He could serve Milwaukee well, no matter what direction the team chooses to go in next season. Mattingly has experience managing clubs with World Series hopes, and teams in rebuilding mode.
Oddsmakers seem to believe Mattingly is possibly in line for the job, and it seems that it may come together quickly. Maybe the Dodgers will get to see their old skipper back in a dugout next season, and it will be a great sight if that happens.
