The Houston Astros have signed former Dodgers reliever Wander Suero to a minor league contract this offseason. This has a chance to lead to an invite to spring training, as he'll hope to compete for a post on the Opening Day roster.

Suero spent the 2023 season with the Dodgers, appearing in just five games for the big league club. During that time, he posted an ERA of 7.88 over eight innings of work.

It wasn't a great showing for the veteran and he spent the remainder of the season in Triple-A. He posted an ERA of 3.26 over 49.2 innings of work but did show some promise over time.

His strikeout rate was at almost 26%, showing that he can still punch batters out. He could end up being a sneaky signing for Houston if he is able to keep his walks down, something that has plagued him over the years.

Before coming to the Dodgers, Suero spent multiple years as a member of the Washington Nationals bullpen. He was serviceable for Washington but the team felt it was time for a change. Suero was a part of the 2019 Nationals squad that won the World Series, upsetting the Dodgers along the way.
