Injured Dodger Fan Favorite Gavin Lux Has Awesome Interaction with Legendary Lakers Guard
Being out for the entirety of the 2023 MLB season has given this Dodgers fan favorite a lot of time to find other hobbies.
Gavin Lux, who suffered a torn ACL during Spring Training, is passing time when not crushing his rehab by interacting with some Los Angeles sports legends on social media.
In an X post, Lux shares a photo of a Nick Van Exel jersey that he wants to be signed by the Lakers legend.
Lux and Van Exel both wear the number nine for their respective LA-based clubs.
Lucky for Lux, Van Exel replied to his post the following day, letting the 25-year-old know that he can get the jersey signed whenever he wants.
Van Exel was with the Lakers for five seasons during the 1990s. In 378 games with the team, Can Exel averaged, 14.9 points, 7.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Van Exel was a key piece to the Lakers teams from 1993 to 1998 but was never able to win a championship with the team.
In the 1998-1999 season, Van Exel signed with the Denver Nuggets and the Lakers would go on to win its first championship since 1988.
Lux was born in time to see Van Exel's last year with the Lakers. While he may not remember the guard's time in the purple and gold, Lux has shown an appreciation to former Lakers players in the past.
The Dodgers second baseman has been spotted at multiple Lakers games during his MLB career and continues to reach out to former players on social media.
With an expected return from injury in 2024, Lux's admiration for the Lakers will not go away with his injury.
