Julio Urias Will Not Face Felony Charges: What's Next for the Former Dodgers Pitcher?
Former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías will not face felony charges in Los Angeles County stemming from his Sept. 3 arrest, according to ESPN.
Urías was arrested outside of BMO Stadium following an LAFC soccer match after an alleged domestic violence incident. The left-hander was placed on paid administrative leave by Major League Baseball as the District Attorney's office investigated the incident.
Law enforcement completed its investigation in mid-December, turning it over to the DA's office. Even though he will not face felony charges, but the Los Angeles City Attorney could still file misdemeanor charges against Urías, according to ESPN.
Major League Baseball will most likely wait until that investigation concludes before making a decision about Urías' future.
In 2019, the then-Dodgers pitcher was suspended for 20 games for domestic battery, but wasn't prosecuted under the condition that he complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program.
If Urías is suspended by MLB this time around, he will be the first player to be suspended twice under the league's domestic violence policy.
Urías is currently a free agent, as his contract with the Dodgers expired after the 2023 season.
