Pair of Former Dodgers Involved in Strange Trivia Question Moment
How about this for a crazy moment in former Dodgers history? Hanser Alberto, now with the Chicago White Sox, and Matt Beaty, now with the San Francisco Giants, found themselves part of what can only be described as a weird baseball trivia moment earlier this week.
First, let's show the tweet that best summarized the moment.
It starts with Hanser Alberto pitching -- not surprising for the infielder that now has 14 career pitching appearances (10 came with the Dodgers last season). The White Sox were down 12-3 in the 9th inning and were just looking at getting to the next day.
Hanser struggled, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and a walk. One of those hits came off the bat of old friend Matt Beaty, who joined the Giants on opening day.
In the bottom of the 9th, Matt Beaty made his first career pitching appearance and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk. One of those hits came off the bat of Hanser Alberto.
Maybe this isn't all that exciting, but it feels like something. Baseball is weird and all of its weirdness deserves to be highlighted. At the bare minimum, it can be some sort of bar trivia question for a really select section of MLB fans.
Funny enough, this isn't the first time the two players have been connected in headlines. When the Dodgers signed Hanser back in 2022, Beaty was the guy that was DFA'd to create room for the infielder.
