Shohei Ohtani exchanged pleasantries with his former teammates before his Dodgers squared off against his former club, the Angels, on Tuesday.

Ohtani said it wasn't weird seeing his old team for the first time since signing a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers.

“A lot of the boys were here today, so I got to catch up with most of them. They didn’t really give me a hard time. It was more a lot of congratulations. They’re happy for me. It didn’t really feel too weird or uncomfortable because it kind of is what it is. If I was playing at the Angels’ home, it might have been a little different story.”

A lot of Angels regulars including Mike Trout, Taylor Ward, Brandon Drury, Logan O’Hoppe, Zach Neto, and Matt Thaiss made the trip to Glendale from Tempe for a chance to say hi to their friend and congratulate him on all of his recent accomplishments.

“He was over here for six years, and he did a lot for us. It was definitely different seeing him over there. I just congratulated him on everything and all the stuff that happened over the winter -- the marriage, the contract, just all the things that happened.”

The Dodgers and Angels won't meet again in Cactus League play but will meet for the annual Freeway Series exhibition series after the Dodgers return from South Korea.

Ohtani's first game at Angel Stadium as a visitor will be on March 26, the team's final spring training game of the season.
