It was inevitable.

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed the most coveted free agent in all of baseball this offseason when L.A. landed two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani is the best player in baseball, and the Dodgers now have him for the remainder of his career. Before choosing Los Angeles in free agency, Ohatni spent the first six years of his career in Anaheim.

It was an underwhelming tenure for the Halos as they failed to reach the postseason. However, there was no doubting his talents alongside Angels superstar Mike Trout.

Ohtani and Trout were among the best duos in baseball. However, those two weren't enough to get the Halos over the top, resulting in Ohtani leaving for Los Angeles.

Ohtani to L.A. seemed like the best and obvious choice. Not only was it evident to experts and oddsmakers but also to Trout. In a recent interview with USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Trout said he had always believed he was headed for the Dodgers.

"I kind of had a pretty good idea, my gut feeling it was going to be the Dodgers," Trout said. "I’m just happy for him. Obviously, I wanted him to come back. He got what he deserves."

Ohtani did all he could for the Halos in his six seasons. He racked up a .274 batting average, .922 OPS, 171 home runs, 437 RBIs and 157 hits in 701 games. There's nothing more he could've done, and luckily, he still has a lot left in the tank to do all of what he did with the Halos and more in Dodger Blue.

Ohtani deserved more, and he should get it with the Dodgers.

Unfortunately, Trout will stay in Anaheim for possibly the rest of his career. It is a good thing Ohtani had the self-awareness to get out when he could.
