Trayce Thompson has Been the MLB's Best Hitter Over the Last Year
Dodgers OF Trayce Thompson is off to a red-hot start this season. In two games, Thompson is 3-for-8 with three home runs and eights runs batted in.
To be fair, all those hits came in his first game, and Thompson went 0-4 in his second. However, that first game gave him more than enough confidence, and definitely earned him some more playing time in the immediate future.
Through two games this season, Thompson has been one of the biggest talking points around the league — and rightfully so.
However, there have been some very interesting statistics that have been uncovered that have actually shown how dominant Thompson has been since his run began with the Dodgers.
Since lasts year's All-Star break, Thompson has an incredible OPS of .994 which, per MLB Network, leads the entire MLB. For the stat, the minimum amount of plate appearances is 180, which is not a huge sample size, but it isn't small.
Since last year's All-Star break, Thompson is slashing .277/.378/.616 with 14 home runs and 38 RBIs.
He entered this season with very questionable playing time, however, if he continues to play like he did on Saturday, he's going to be in there a lot more moving forward.
