The Dodgers have spent over $1 billion this offseason in committed money toward a few players, and they may not be done yet. The team still has some holes around the roster, and the front office has been trying to plug them.

One name that has been circling around the Dodgers of late is free-agent closer Josh Hader. To date, no team has met the price for Hader, as he is looking for a record-setting reliever deal.

Hader wants to surpass the five-year, $102 million contract that Edwin Diaz signed with the New York Mets last season. Most teams have been hesitant to shell that kind of money out on a relief pitcher, potentially allowing Hader to fall into the Dodgers' laps.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale believes that if Hader is still on the open market in a month, the Dodgers will sign him.

"If Hader is still on the market in a month, and they can grab him for less than the five-year contract in excess of $100 million he’s seeking, they’ll seize the opportunity and sign him, too."

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today

If the Dodgers were to add Hader to the mix, they would be getting one of the best closers in baseball. He has elite stuff on the mound, and the team would have their traditional 9th-inning closer that they've lacked since Kenley Jansen left.

Signing Hader would move reliever Evan Phillips back to a "fireman" role, which he seems more comfortable in any way. Having Phillips and Hader close games for the Dodgers would make them extremely scary come the late innings.

The Dodgers don't need Hader, but he would be a nice luxury to have. They already have a strong bullpen, but this team is looking to go all-in on winning titles over the next few seasons.
