Yoshinobu Yamamoto Rumors: Insider Affirms Dodgers Among Most Interested in Japanese Star
The Dodgers enter the offseason with the expectation of being majorly aggressive in upgrading their starting rotation for next season. After a year that saw them struggle to build out a rotation, the team wants to make sure that they don't have it happen again in 2024.
They are going to be looking at both the trade market and free agency for the upgrades, and they are being linked to multiple players. But the team has reportedly been looking heavily at one in particular, Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Yamamoto is expected to be posted from his current club soon, and the Dodgers have been confirmed as a team with a big interest in landing him.
Yamamoto is seen by many as the best pitcher to be coming out of Japan, so if LA were to land him, it would be a game-changer for their rotation. He could easily slot in toward the top of the starters, and give them a true ace to work with.
It won't be easy to sign him, however, as there are multiple clubs across the league that are interested in him. He reportedly prefers to land with a big market team, so both New York teams are preparing themselves for a run at landing him.
Yamamoto is just 25 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to grow with whatever team he signs with. He is expected to receive a huge, multi-year contract this offseason.
Landing him would instantly bolster the Dodgers rotation, and he could be an instant producer for this team. The front office understands that they need someone like him, and they have the financial flexibility to go after him, so they have a good chance of getting him.
Hopefully, when all is said and done Yamamoto is wearing a Dodgers jersey. The organization has a long history of signing Japanese talent, so maybe Yamamoto will be the next in line.
