2023 Guardians Trio Achieved This MLB Feat For First Time In 30 Years
The 2023 Cleveland Guardians had many award winners and finalists for their performance on the field.
The team made history at the individual, duo, and even trio levels of players.
And now, another Cleveland trio has been found to make MLB history during the 2023 campaign.
This year, the Guardians’ trio of second baseman Andrés Giménez, third baseman José Ramírez, and left fielder Steven Kwan became the first MLB trio to each record at least 25 doubles, 20 stolen bases, and five triples in the same season since 1993.
Here is a breakdown of these statistics for each player in 2023:
Andrés Giménez
27 doubles, 30 stolen bases, and five triples in 153 games played.
José Ramírez
36 doubles, 28 stolen bases, and five triples in 156 games played.
Steven Kwan
36 doubles, 21 stolen bases, and seven triples in 158 games played.
The last Major League trio to accomplish this feat was the trio of Roberto Alomar, Paul Molitor, and Devon White of the 1993 Toronto Blue Jays.
Additionally, Cleveland’s trio is the third American League trio to each reach at least 25 doubles, 20 stolen bases, and five triples in the same season since 1918.
Giménez, Ramírez, and Kwan are the fourth trio in Cleveland franchise history to each achieve this statistical feat. No other American League team has done it more than twice.
Here are the previous Cleveland trios to accomplish what these three did this year:
1904
Bill Bradley, Elmer Flick, and Nap Lajoie.
1906
Flick, Lajoie, and Terry Turner.
1917
Ray Chapman, Braggo Roth, and Tris Speaker.
With three strong performances at the plate, the Guardians’ 2023 trio now joins some exclusive company in baseball history.
