All Moves That Affect The Guardians, MLB Trade Deadline Recap
The Cleveland Guardians didn't sit out this year's MLB trade deadline and pulled off deals that sent out Amed Rosario and Aaron Civale. They eventually dealt Josh Bell right as the deadline was about to expire. However, even if the Guardians aren't one of the teams involved in a trade doesn't mean a trade won't affect them.
These are all of the deals that happened around the division that could have an effect on the Guardians this season and in the future.
Twins-Marlins Swap
The Minnesota Twins and Marlins kicked off the trade deadline with a very minor deal. The two teams swapped relievers with RHP Jorge Lopez headed to Miami and RHP Dylan Floro to the Twins.
This ended up being the only trade that Minnesota made after the deadline officially closed.
White Sox Sell
The Chicago White Sox were one of baseball's biggest sellers at the deadline. They made plenty of trades preparing them for the future.
They sent out RHP Lucas Giolito, RHP Reynaldo Lopez, RHP Kendall Graveman, RHP Lance Lynn, and RHP Joe Kelly all in separate deals. The players the White Sox brought in include LHP Ky Bush, C Edgar Quero, C Kprey Lee, RF Trayce Thompson, RHP Nick Nastrini, RHP Jordan Leasure, and RHP Kynan Middleton.
The most surprising move was Chicago sending Jake Burger, who has emerged as one of the AL's best power hitters, to the Miami Marlins for left-handed pitching prospect Jake Eder.
These trades certainly signal that Chicago is headed towards an extensive rebuild and they won't be contending for the AL Central this season.
Royals Trade Familiar Face
Nicky Lopez is probably a familiar name to Guardians fans. He's been a part of the divisional foe Kansas City Royals for five seasons and has hit .244 against Cleveland during his career.
The Royals traded Lopez to the Atlanta Braves for LHP Taylor Hearn. This is another move for Kansas City to build for the future.
Tigers Sell High On Starting Pitcher
The Detroit Tigers entered Tuesday 6.5 games out of first place in the division. However, it would've taken a miracle to win the division. They decided to sell high on SP Michael Lorenzen and got the Philadelphia Phillies' fifth-ranked prospect INF Hao Yu Lee in return.
This is clearly another move for the future.
