Anders Giemenz broke onto the season in 2022 establishing himself as one of baseball's best defenders while also possessing a dangerous bat as well. This duality of skills landed him a shiny seven-year, $100 million extension with the Cleveland Guardians.

It hasn't been rainbows and sunshine since reaching this agreement, but Gimenez is currently putting together his best month of the season while looking to end the year on a high note.

Cleveland's second baseman brought a batting average of .356, an OPS of .871, and 10 RBI in 19 games played in the month of September heading into Friday night. Gimenez also has hit safely in 15-of-19 of these 19 games and 10 multi-hit efforts to go along with it.

That batting average is the highest in the American League as of September 22 showing just how locked in the contact hitter has been.

Gimenez's defense has still been fantastic at second base however, Gimenez's overall offensive numbers have taken a step backward. His current season split sits at .251/.316/.391 with an OPS of .707.

This lack of production has been highlighted even more by the struggles the entire team has faced at the plate. It's unfortunate that he's finally putting it all together when the Guardians' season is coming to an end.

It's obviously not been a great season for Gimenez and there are plenty of at-bats he wants to have back. But there's still a great hitter in there, we've already seen it. Ending the season with some momentum may be exactly what Gimenez needs for his confidence heading into 2024.
