Boston- The Cleveland Indians had an offensive explosion of sorts Wednesday night on the road in Boston. Fresh off their big ninth inning comeback on Tuesday night, the Indians held of the Red Sox for a 14-9 victory.

Carlos Santana got things going in the first inning when his triple scored Oscar Mercado. Santana would eventually score due to a wild pitch from Boston starter, Ryan Weber. The Indians had Weber's number all night, as the right-hander allowed seven runs on eight hits in only four innings of work.

The Indians first basemen finished a single shy of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with five RBIs, including a solo home run in the fourth. Cleveland starting pitcher, Shane Bieber earned the win despite allowing six runs and eight hits in five innings of work.

Santana's strong night from the plate trickled throughout the line-up as the Tribe finished with a season-high 18 hits. Cleveland was able fight off every comeback from the Red Sox, as the Indians scored in the first seven innings. While Santana lead the charge, Jose Ramirez had two doubles and two RBIs. While Greg Allen and Kevin Plawecki drove in two runs a piece, as the Tribe took two of three from the defending World Series champions.

Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr, Andrew Benintendi and Xander Bogaerts all homerd for the Red Sox. Boston was able to cut the Indians lead down to 14-9 in the eighth inning thanks to Bogaerts' 10th home run of the season. The Red Sox rally forced Terry Francona to bring on Brad Hand for his 15th save of the season.

Prior to the Santana and Allen triples, the Indians were the only team in major-league baseball that had not hit a triple in the 2019 season. Which when you think about it, is really quite impressive. A struggling offense has been the biggest story of the season for Cleveland this year, but scoring 26 runs in three games against Boston could be a sign of brighter things to come.

Cleveland (28-27) heads to Chicago to take on the White Sox in a four game weekend series. With the back to back wins against the Red Sox the Indians are back above .500 after a brief stint below. The Tribe still trails the Minnesota Twins in the division by 9.5 games. Carlos Carrasco takes the hill tomorrow night, against Manny Banuelos. Carrasco is coming of his worst start of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays where he allowed five runs over the course of 6 1/3 innings.
