The trade deadline may have passed, but that doesn't mean teams can't still add players to their roster. This is exactly what the Cleveland Guardians did as they added veteran outfielder Ramon Laureano off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.

Laureano was DFA'd by the A's back on August 5 after having a down year with the Oakland club. He's slashed .213/.280/.364 this season with an OPS of .644. Despite these numbers, Laureano still has the fourth-best bWAR on the roster at 1.1.

The six-year veteran was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 16th round of the 2104 Draft. He was traded to Oakland in 2018 and has hit .246 for the club ever since.

The A's are going through a youth movement which meant they no longer needed Laureano on the roster. But a change of scenery may help his production tick back up.

Cleveland's offense has largely disappointed this season and Laureano could be a great veteran to play alongside some of the young outfield such as Oscar Gonzalez, Will Brennan, and Steven Kwan for the rest of the season.

In order to make room for Laureano on the roster, the Guardians designated RHP Chris Vallimont for assignment. Cleveland acquired Vallimont from the Baltimore Orioles on July 6.
