Guardians News: Latest On Progressive Field Renovations
Crews have been working hard at Progressive Field on renovations to make Cleveland Guardians games even that much better to attend. The initial project started during the 2023 All-Star break but noticeable changes are starting to appear.
Fans haven't been given a ton of details about all that's going down at the Carnegie and Ontario this offseason, but we are getting a little sneak peek at what to expect come to Opening Day 2024.
A recent photo that emerged on X showed a very different look in the right field stands.
Goodbye green and hello ... blue?
Yep, the seats at Progressive Field are getting a massive makeover, including a new shade of blue. Zack Meisel of The Athletic noted that the final color will be a "navy-blue hue." The aesthetic may take some time to get used to, but any change to spice it up is welcome and navy seats will obviously match the Guardians' color scheme better than forest green.
Here's a nice aerial shot of the new seats provided by Fox 8 Cleveland:
The seats are just one of many upgrades taking place at the ballpark this offseason and the complete list of renovations won't be done until 2025.
Upgrades that are planned to be completed before Opening Day 2024 include upper deck renovations along with these new seats. The new upper deck will include more of the standing room that is prevalent in the right-field and left-field stands.
Progressive Field, or Jacobs Field as some may still refer to it, opened it up in 1994 so it will be nearly 30 years old come Opening Day. It was due for a major refurbishing project such as this one.
