Former Angels Make Return As Guardians Take On Los Angeles
It's pretty common for players to jump around Major League Baseball especially if they've been in the league for quite a while. A number of former Los Angeles Angels will be making their return to their once-home stadium as the Cleveland Guardians head to LA this weekend.
Lucas Giolito
The biggest name that has recently been a member of the Angles is Lucas Giolito. The starting pitcher was traded there by the Chicago White Sox at the 2023 trade deadline and only made six starts before being picked up on waivers by Cleveland.
Gilito made six starts with the Angles posting an ERA of 6.89 and 1.47 WHIP during this short stint.
Reynaldo Lopez
Reynaldo Lopez was traded alongside Giolito when the pair of pitchers went to LA just a couple of months ago. Lopez appeared in 13 games out of the bullpen with the Angels but also carried an 0-2 record.
He's another pitcher that Cleveland had the opportunity to pick up off waivers.
Matt Moore
Matt Moore wraps up the trio of former Angel pitchers who Cleveland took after they were released. Moore signed with the Angels last offseason hoping to be a key piece on a playoff team.
He pitched a total of 44.0 innings for Los Angeles before being cut and was a solid arm despite how the relationship ended. Moore held a WHIP of 1.02 in his 41 games while only allowing 13 earned runs.
Kole Calhoun
Here's a name that many fans may have forgotten about. Before Kole Calhoun was playing first base for the Guardians, he was one of the Angels' best corner outfielders. Calhoun played seven seasons with LA before bouncing around the league.
He had a total of 140 home runs and 451 RBI in 966 games for the Angels.
