Cleveland Guardians fans were greeted with some good news and bad news on Thursday afternoon. All of it revolves around the pitching staff and what the organization's next steps are with who will be with the current rotation.

Aaron Civale And Triston McKenzie Return

Cleveland's pitching staff gets a much-needed boost with both Aaron Civale and Triston McKenzie scheduled to make their return to the mound. Civale's last start came back on April 7 while McKenzie never started the season.

The Guardians have done a solid job weathering the storm thanks to Tanner Bibee and Logan Allen, but they'll finally have back two of their cornerstones back in their rotation.

Civale is expected to make his return on Friday night and McKenzie will make his season debut on Sunday. Both starts will be against the Minnesota Twins.

Cal Quantrill To The Injured List

One of the big questions that needed to be answered with McKenzie and Civale coming off the injured list was who would leave the rotation. Pitching coach Carl Willis even admitted that they would need to make some "tough decisions."

We finally have some clarity to that answer. Kind of.

Cal Quantrill will be out of the rotation after being diagnosed with shoulder inflammation. Cal has had a rough season to this point posting an ERA of 5.61 in 11 starts.

Cleveland will have to address the starters at some point, but Qauntrill's injury kicks it down the road a little further.
