Guardians Reveal Pitching Rotation For First Four Spring Training Games

Cal Quantrill, Zach Plesac, Shane Bieber, and Triston McKenzie will all be a part of the Cleveland Guardians rotation for the first Spring Training games of 2023.

It's time to get excited! The Cleveland Guardians will play baseball in less than a week!

These games are fast approaching and Terry Francona and the rest of the coaching staff have to start planning out who will get what playing time and where in these games. They appear to have made a choice on the pitching end of things.

This is what the Guardians' rotation will look like for their first four games of Spring Training:

  • February 25 @ Reds - Cal Qauntrill
  • February 26 Vs. Rangers - Zach Plesac
  • February 27 @ Cubs - Shane Bieber
  • February 28 Vs. Royals - Triston McKenzie

There aren't a ton of surprises here. The rotation that Cleveland stuck with for most of 2022 will be the starting rotation for their first Spring Training games.

The only question remains with Aaron Civale. When will he throw? It would make sense that he would get multiple innings in the middle of one of these games.

Even though these pitchers will be the game's starters, there's no way they throw for more than two to three innings each. Four innings evens sounds like a stretch at this point of Spring Training. This leaves plenty of time for Civale to come in and get his work in.
