CLEVELAND - It was yet another long night of baseball at Progressive Field, as the Indians and Red Sox played four hours and 20 minutes worth of baseball in what was the final regular season game of 2018, but for Tribe fans it was well worth it.

The Indians topped the Red Sox 4-3, winning the season series over the best team record-wise in the American League four games to three.

Here's hoping that these two teams will get a crack at doing it with everything on the line in October in the American League Championship Series.

The winner came in the 11th, as Indians outfielder Greg Allen hit a single though a drawn in infield, driving in Jose Ramirez with the winning run.

It was the 7th walk-off win of the season for the Tribe, ad the second of Allen's career, as he hit a solo homer back on May 27th against the Astros for his first career walk-off.

Here's three takeaways from the Tribe victory that moves them to 87-68 with seven games left.

1. A Fun, Albeit Long, Three Days

The Indians and Red Sox have bigger fish to fry with both teams eyeing the World Series, but they might just have to get past each other in the ALCS, and as Terry Francona put it after the win, if this game was played in a couple weeks, it would be a classic.

There were a lot of twists and turns over the weekend at Progressive Field, but the big thing is both teams played hard with nothing to play for, and in the end the Indians won two of three, and actually win the season series with the Red Sox four games to three.

It was fun to see these two teams like two heavyweight fighters go at it for three games, and in the thee games the two teams each scored 14 runs.

If these two teams do meet in the ALCS, it could be a seven game classic for sure with the firepower each team has.

2. Plutko's Night

Indians starter Adam Plutko had his moments of struggle, but by in large threw well against the best team in the American League.

Plutko went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks with two K's. He threw 109 pitches in the effort, 68 for strikes, and lowered his ERA to 5.21.

It's been awhile since Plutko has won a game, as he's not recorded a 'W' since June 24th, but on this night his biggest issue was one player - Mookie Betts.

All the potential AL MVP did was slam a double to start the game and score on a wild pitch. In the 3rd he singled to right, and then in the 5th hit a solo homer.

While it wasn't off Plutko, he then doubled to left in the 7th inning. He's going to be a load to deal with if the Indians can get to him in the ALCS.

3. At Least One More

The Indians 2018 home portion of their schedule is over, and the team drew just over 1.9 million fans to Progressive Field this season, down a little from the two million last season.

The good news is we've not seen the last of baseball at the ballpark this season, as there's going to be at least one more game here this season, and hopefully more.

That one game will be game three of the ALDS against likely Houston coming up on Monday, October 8th at either 1pm or 4pm. If there's a game four of that series, it will be the following day on Tuesday, October 9th at a time to be announced.

The Indians for the regular season finished 49-32 at Progressive Field, with maybe the most memorable moment being just last week when Jason Kipnis hit a grand slam to top the White Sox in the 9th inning.
