The Cleveland Guardians' search for their next manager is still underway, but we do have a little clarity on what the rest of the staff will/won't look like.

Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reported that long-time third base coach Mike Sarbaugh will not return to the the team's coaching staff next season.

It's not uncommon that an organization with a new team brings in their own crew, and some turnover on the roster had to be expected. However, Sarbaugh not returning is a little shocking from a fan's perspective.

He was Cleveland's third base coach from 2014-2021 and 2022-23 and also served as the bench coach when not managing on the field.

Sarbaugh was with the organization long before helping out at the Big League level. He managed the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2004, Lake County Captains in 2005, Kinston Indians from 2006-07, Akron Aeros from 2008-09, and Columbus Clippers from 2010-12.

All of this experience would've been valuable to taking over for Terry Francona, especially considering that whoever Cleveland hires may not have an MLB manager background.

Now, Sarbaugh looks to the next phase of his career and what it may have in store for him.

Cleveland's third base coach isn't the only part of the staff who Hoynes is reporting will not be back with the team in 2024. Their bullpen coach Rigo Beltran and replay coordinator Mike Barnett will also not return.

Who will fill these spots is still a mystery. Whoever does take over as Cleveland's new manager may want to have an influence on those decisions.
