On Saturday, Corey Kluber threw a simulated game for two innings to see if he was prepared to begin the rehab process for the Indians.

Indians notes:

*Corey Kluber threw a 2-inning sim game. Could start in minors on Thursday, assuming he bounces back fine over next couple days.

*Danny Salazar has mild groin strain. Will rehab away from big league club.

*Mike Freeman is technically now the backup 1B.

Early on Sunday morning it was announced the Kluber will begin his first rehab assignment for the Indians on Thursday for the Columbus Clippers.

The Indians ace hasn't had much success this season when it comes to health alone. Kluber has only started in seven games due to the fact that he broke his right forearm during a game against the Miami Marlins back in April.

In the 2019 season, Kluber is 2-3, with an ERA of 5.80, pitched in 35.2 innings, has walked 15 batters, and struck out 38 batters.

The Indians will welcome Kluber back into the starting rotation with open arms with hopes of a playoff run in the horizon along and can use him as the season is slowly coming down to the wire with only 2 months left.
