The Cleveland Guardians suffered their third 2024 Cactus League loss with an 8-6 defeat to the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for yesterday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Alexfri Planez, OF

After being limited to just seven games with Double-A Akron last season due to injury, the outfield prospect had a big hit in the later stages of the game.

With the contest tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the 22-year-old hit a go-ahead two-run single to give Cleveland a 5-3 lead.

Planez now has three RBI in his first two games this spring.

José Ramírez, 3B

MLB Network’s 14th-ranked player ahead of the 2024 season delivered at the plate once again.

After hitting an RBI single in the Guardians’ previous contest, Ramírez put Cleveland on the board first with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning.

Emmanuel Clase, RHP

MLB’s saves leader in each of the past two seasons made a strong impression in his first appearance of the spring.

The 25-year-old pitched a perfect second inning, striking out two of the three hitters he faced and earning a hold.

Eli Morgan, RHP

After pitching a perfect inning in his first appearance of the spring, the right-hander did the same against Arizona.

The 27-year-old pitched a perfect seventh inning, striking out one of the three hitters he faced and earning his first hold of the spring.

Up next, Cleveland will face the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday afternoon at 3:10 p.m. EST.
