Baseball America Unveils Guardians’ Top 10 2024 Preseason Prospects
In MLB Pipeline’s latest farm system rankings, which were published on August 15, the Cleveland Guardians’ farm system was ranked 15th in Major League Baseball.
This season, Cleveland’s system developed six players who made their MLB debut with the Guardians.
With the 2023 MLB season having concluded on November 1, the baseball world is now looking ahead to the 2024 campaign.
On Friday, Baseball America unveiled their list of Cleveland’s preseason top 10 prospects ahead of the 2024 season. They are:
- Chase DeLauter, OF
- Brayan Rocchio, SS
- Daniel Espino, RHP
- Kyle Manzardo, 1B
- Juan Brito, 2B
- Angel Martínez, 2B
- George Valera, OF
- Jaison Chourio, OF
- Ralphy Velazquez, C
- Alex Clemmey, LHP
For comparison, these are also MLB Pipeline’s current top 10 Guardians prospects, but not in the same order.
There are some notable changes from Baseball America’s 2023 midseason top 10 Cleveland prospects.
With the graduations of Gavin Williams and Bo Naylor, three prospects now enter the Guardians’ top 10. Valera jumps from 11th to seventh, Martínez jumps from 12th to sixth, and Chourio jumps from 13th to eighth.
Of the 10 Cleveland prospects in Baseball America’s latest rankings, only Rocchio has made his MLB debut. Four of the other nine (Manzardo, Brito, Martínez, and Valera) ended this season in Triple-A, while DeLauter and Espino were in Double-A, Chourio was in Single-A, and both Velazquez and Clemmey were in the Arizona Complex League.
Earlier this week, Guardians President of Baseball Operations Chris Antonetti expressed how important the organization’s young talent is for the Major League team to succeed.
With Cleveland set to have one of baseball’s youngest rosters once again next season, time will tell whether any of these prospects make it up to the Big League club in 2024.
