Miami Tweaks Lineup for Middle Game of Giants Series
The Miami Marlins came close yesterday.
With Edward Cabrera returning from the injured list and looking quite dominant in the process, the Marlins took an early lead but couldn’t hold it as they dropped the series opener 4-3 to the San Francisco Giants.
But Miami’s right back in the saddle tonight, with lefty Ryan Weathers taking on Jordan Hicks at 6:40 PM ET.
Lineups for the Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, April 16th
Here's how Miami will line up for the contest:
2B Luis Arraez
CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
DH Bryan De La Cruz|
1B Josh Bell
RF Jesús Sánchez
SS Tim Anderson
LF Nick Gordon
3B Emmanuel Rivera
C Nick Fortes
Weathers has consistently improved across his three starts this season, with the most recent being the best: five scoreless innings against the New York Yankees, albeit with three walks and only one hit. And starting against the Giants should work out for him, in theory: He’s pitched a combined seven scoreless innings against them in three relief appearances, going 1-0 and allowing only three hits and two walks with six strikeouts. But watch for shortstop Nick Ahmed, the only current member of the Giants roster that’s ever gotten a hit off of Weathers - he’s 2-4 with two RBIs.
Here's San Francisco’s lineup:
RF Austin Slater
1B Wilmer Flores
CF Jung Ho Lee
DH Jorge Soler
C Tom Murphy
3B Matt Chapman
LF Michael Conforto
SS Nick Ahmed
2B Tyler Fitzgerald
Starting for the Giants is free-agent signee Jordan Hicks, who has absolutely flourished in the transition from relief to the rotation. He’s 2-0 in his first three starts, rocking a league-leading 1.00 ERA (qualified starters). Hicks has made two straight quality starts, averaging six innings with four hits in his three outings. Only two Marlins have hits off of Hicks, with Josh Bell being 1-3 and Emmanuel Rivera being 2-2.
