He's back in the game.

On Wednesday, the Long Island Ducks announced that they have signed former New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy.

“This game is part of my soul, and my passion for playing grew as great as ever when I discovered certain things that I believe will enable me to be productive on the field again,” said Murphy in a statement on the Ducks' website. “I am immensely grateful to Mr. Boulton, Wally Backman and Michael Pfaff for allowing me to live my dream for a second time.”

Murphy played 12-years in the big-leagues, was a three-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and the 2015 NLCS MVP.

Murphy, 37, last appeared in the major leagues in 2020 for the Colorado Rockies.

Murphy played for the Mets for eight seasons (2008-2015) and helped lead them to the World Series in 2015.

During the '15 postseason, Murphy hit seven home runs and had a .328/.391/.724 triple slash with a 1.115 OPS.

The Mets let Murphy walk in free agency to the NL East rival Washington Nationals after the World Series.

While it appeared that Murphy's baseball career was over, as he announced his retirement in 2021, he will now be making a comeback with the Ducks.
