The New York Mets made a tough decision Sunday.

There had been rumblings for weeks about the possibility of removing Buck Showalter as manager but it didn't seem as if a move would happen. Although that was the case, New York fired Showalter on Sunday after an underwhelming 2023 season.

Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor addressed the move after the season finale and it doesn't sound like he wanted a move to happen, as transcribed by SNY.

"Do I like it? No, it doesn't feel good," Lindor said. "I hate seeing people lose their jobs. He let me be Francisco Lindor, and I appreciate that. He let my daughter run around and love on him, and I appreciate that"

Lindor thrived for the Mets this season and finished the year slashing .254/.336/.470 with 31 home runs, 98 RBIs, 31 stolen bases, and 33 doubles. New York had high expectations this season but had struggled. The Mets finished the season with a disappointing 74-87 record after winning 101 games in 2022. Many expected the the Mets to be one of the best teams in baseball in 2023 but they were never able to get on track.

New York recently hired former Milwaukee Brewers executive David Stearns to lead the club as the organization's president of baseball operations and he now has made his first move by letting go of Showalter. It's a new era in New York and it certainly will be an interesting offseason.
