New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor still owes his double play partner Jeff McNeil a new car for winning last year's batting title.

But during an appearance on Mookie Betts' On Base show on Bleacher Report, Lindor didn't make it sound like he is close to getting McNeil that car he promised him.

“Yeah, I will get a car,” Lindor said. “It’s just a matter of what car I’m getting.”

McNeil admittedly sent Lindor a video of cars he was looking at, but Lindor has yet to purchase him a vehicle. Lindor also joked with Betts that the car might not be drivable at all.

“I don’t know. It’s my wallet, so,” Lindor laughed. “It’s gonna happen. It might be a Hot Wheel. It might be a golf cart. It might be a nice car.

“It was just a walking by thing,” Lindor said of when he made the promise to McNeil early in the 2022 season. “He will get the car. I promise you that.”

It was during a May 2022 series in Philadelphia when Lindor initially told McNeil he would buy him a car if he won the batting title.

McNeil, of course, went on to hit .326, capturing the batting title for the 2022 season.

McNeil held up his end of the deal. Now It's time for Lindor to make good on his promise.
