The Mets' bullpen will possibly be missing a key piece for the next couple days.

On Thursday, the Mets placed setup man Adam Ottavino on the paternity list.

The team recalled right-hander Denyi Reyes to take Ottavino's spot on the roster.

With Ottavino going on the paternity list, he will at least miss the Mets' series finale with the Washington Nationals on Thursday.

He could also potentially miss the first two games of a pivotal four-game set with the National League East rival Atlanta Braves.

Ottavino has mainly served as David Robertson's main setup man. He has also received some of the closing duties, notching three saves in three chances.

Ottavino has a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings (11 appearances) this season. The Mets will hope that he can return in their series against the Braves.

After a strong first season in Queens last year, Ottavino was re-signed on a two-year, $14.5 million deal in the offseason.
