A New York Mets prospect was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for action from June 5-11.

Luke Ritter, a second baseman for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies, claimed the award on Monday.

Ritter played in six games during the week — including a doubleheader on Saturday. He batted .375 (9-for-24) with one double, one triple, five home runs and 12 RBI in a week-long series against Reading.

The big game came in the finale on Sunday. Ritter went 3-for-4 with three home runs and four RBI.

During the team’s 12-game road trip, Ritter batted .340 with nine home runs and 17 RBIs, carrying a 1.394 OPS. He had six multi-hit games, five multi-RBI games, and three multi-homer games during the road trip.

All of that helped bring up his season numbers. He’s now slashing .240/.389/.568 with a .957 OPS, hitting 14 home runs (third in the Eastern League) with 29 RBIs.

Ritter played his college baseball at Wichita State and was the Mets’ seventh-round pick in 2019. He started this season with Triple-A Syracuse before he was sent to Binghamton in May.

In four minor league seasons, his career slash line is .222/.331/.406/.737 with 48 home runs and 175 RBI.

As a result of his recent play, Ritter earned a call-up to Triple-A Syracuse.
