Mets Set Pitching Probables for Cardinals Series
The New York Mets have set the pitching probables for three of their four games with the St. Louis Cardinals, a four-game series that starts on Thursday.
Thursday’s game starts at 7:15 p.m. eastern, with Friday’s game set for 8:15. Saturday’s game will start at 7:15 p.m. while Sunday’s will start at 2:15.
José Quintana (0-4, 3.03) will make his sixth start of the season in Thursday’s opener. Quintana took the loss against Atlanta on Saturday, giving up four hits and one earned run in six innings. He struck out four and walked three. In spite of his record, he has a 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in nearly 30 innings of work since he returned from the injured list on July 14.
Adam Wainwright (3-7, 8.78) is set to start for St. Louis. Wainwright is pitching his final Major League season and is 0-6 in his last seven starts.
The Mets haven’t set a pitching probable for Friday’s game, per MLB.com.
The Cardinals are expected to start Zack Thompson (2-4, 3.96). He will make his second start of the season. He last pitched against Kansas City last Friday, giving up four hits and a run in four innings of work. He struck out five and walked none.
Kodai Senga (9-6, 3.30) is expected to start on Saturday for the Mets. He claimed the victory against Atlanta on Sunday, giving up four hits and three earned runs in six innings. He struck out seven and walked two. In his last seven games he’s gone 3-1 with a 2.85 ERA, striking out 48 and walking 13 in 41 innings.
Miles Mikolas (6-8, 4.27) is expected to start for St. Louis on Saturday. He drew a no-decision in his last outing against Oakland on Monday, giving up five hits and four earned runs in 6.1 innings. He struck out four and walked three. He is 1-3 with a 4.37 ERA in his last seven games, striking out 25 and walked five in 35 innings.
Carlos Carrasco (3-6, 6.40) is expected to start on Sunday for the Mets. He took a no-decision on Monday against Pittsburgh, giving up four hits and two earned runs in three innings. He struck out five and walked three. He is 1-3 with a 7.18 ERA in his last seven games (all starts), with 23 strikeouts and 12 walks in 31.1 innings.
Dakota Hudson (4-0, 4.03) is expected to start on Sunday for the Cardinals. He earned the win against Oakland on Tuesday, giving up five hits and two earned runs in 6.2 innings. He struck out three and walked one. Primarily a reliever this season, he moved into the rotation after the trade deadline and has won all three of his starts in August.
