New York Mets Set Pitching Probables for Texas Rangers Series

The New York Mets know which Texas Rangers pitchers they will face when their series starts on Monday.

The New York Mets have set their pitching probables for their three-game series with the Texas Rangers, which starts on Monday at Citi Field.

Monday’s and Tuesday’s games are set for 7:10 p.m. eastern, with Wednesday’s finale set for 6:40 p.m.

Tylor Megill (7-7, 5.54) is expected to start for the Mets on Monday. In his last start against Atlanta on Tuesday he took the loss, going just 4.2 innings and giving up eight hits and three earned runs. He walked two and struck out five. In his last seven games he has gone 2-4 with a 7.67 ERA, with 26 strikeouts and 14 walks in 31.2 innings.

Jon Gray (8-7, 3.76) is expected to start for the Rangers on Monday. He took the loss in his last start against Arizona on Tuesday, going just 4.2 innings and allowing seven hits and five earned runs. He struck out five and walked three. In his last seven starts Gray is 2-2 with a 4.89 ERA, with 36 strikeouts and 14 walks in 38.2 innings.

José Quintana (1-5, 3.73) is expected to start for the Mets on Tuesday. In his last start against Atlanta on Wednesday he threw 5.1 innings and gave up nine hits and five earned runs. He struck out five and walked three. He is making just his eighth start this season for the Mets.

Andrew Heaney (9-6, 4.34) is expected to start for the Rangers on Tuesday. He struggled to get through five innings his last outing against Minnesota on Thursday, going just 4.1 innings and giving up seven hits and three earned runs. He struck out five and walked one. Still, in his last seven starts he is 3-0 with a 4.06 ERA with 30 strikeouts and 12 walks in 31 innings.

The Mets haven’t set a probable starter for Wednesday’s finale, per MLB.com. Kodai Senga (10-7, 3.17) could pitch in that game on normal rest. He took the loss in his last start on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels, in spite of a quality outing. He went 6.2 innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs. He walked three and struck out 10. In his last seven games he is 3-2 with a 3.10 ERA with 42 strikeouts and 15 walks in 40.2 innings in that span.

Dane Dunning (9-6, 3.36) is expected to start for the Rangers on Wednesday. He took the loss in his last start against Minnesota on Friday. He pitched just four innings, giving up five hits, four earned runs and six walks. He also struck out six. In his last seven games he is 1-4 with a 4.78 ERA, with 44 strikeouts and 16 walks in 37.2 innings pitched.

After the Rangers leave town, the Mets have Thursday off before starting a three-game series with Seattle on Friday at Citi Field.
