NASHVILLE - The New York Mets are in the hunt for starting pitching and this hurler would be strong addition to their rotation.

According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Mets are among the teams showing interest in right-handed starter Lucas Giolito.

Giolito, 29, is coming off a rough couple of seasons, where he produced ERAs of near 5.00. He did, however, lead the league with 33 starts last season.

The righty was traded by the Chicago White Sox at last season's trade deadline, winding up with the Los Angeles Angels before being claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Guardians just weeks later.

Giolito was an All-Star for the White Sox in 2019, and tossed a no-hitter in August of 2020 during the Covid-shortened season.

Even if the Mets are able to land Giolito, they are still in need of an ace, which is why they have their sights set on Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

President of baseball operations David Stearns, who took a flier on Luis Severino, said the team needs to add at least one more starter, but preferably will acquire more than one.

Giolito could be a nice piece in the Mets' rotation, but the club must add a frontline starter before the winter concludes.
