With all the trade buzz surrounding ace pitcher Justin Verlander, another New York Mets starter is drawing interest.

According to Mike Mayer of Metsmerized Online, the Mets are drawing late interest in veteran hurler Jose Quintana.

Quintana, who just returned from rib surgery on July 20, is signed to a two-year, $26 million deal.

Teams looking to acquire Quintana like that he is under cheap control through the 2024 season. That being said, so do the Mets, who would be creating another hole in their starting rotation if they trade Quintana.

In two starts, the lefty is 0-2 with a 3.27 ERA across 11 innings.

And for now, the majority of interest from teams is about Verlander, who the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers remain in on.

Could the Mets trade Quintana? Sure. But it sounds like their priority is finding a trade partner for Verlander at the moment.
