The New York Mets have plenty of work to do.

New York has plenty of money to spend and a roster that needs an upgrade. Whether through free agency or through trade, there is a lot of work new president of baseball operations David Stearns needs to do this offseason.

There's sure to be plenty of rumors this offseason and ultimately the Mets likely will be linked to seemingly every big-name player available. One player that it would make sense for the Mets to target this offseason is Tampa Bay Rays hurler Tyler Glasnow, according to SNY's Danny Abriano.

"Glasnow's name hasn't been as front and center as the pitcher who we will discuss in a bit," Abriano said. "Part of that is because he pitches in relative obscurity with the Rays, and part of it is because he missed almost the entire 2022 season and the first two months of 2023 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

"When Glasnow returned, he did so with fastball velocity that was right around his career norm (an average of 96.4 mph), continued to strike out batters at a prolific rate (12.2 per nine), and had advanced numbers that were mostly elite."

Glasnow would be a very intriguing addition for the Mets. He isn't the biggest name available. San Diego Padres star Blake Snell and Philadelphia Phillies ace Aaron Nola have drawn the most headlines so far among free agents. Milwaukee Brewers hurler Corbin Burnes has been one of the most talked about possible trade candidates but Glasnow hasn't been brought up too much.

Although this is the case, New York should take a look. Glasnow has dealt with a plethora of injuries throughout his career but when he's been healthy, he's been efficient. The 30-year-old made 21 starts in 2023 for Tampa Bay and compiled a 3.53 ERA. New York needs an upgrade in the starting rotation and has the prospect capital needed to get a deal done for Glasnow.
