See it: Mets' Edwin Diaz Making Progress in Rehab

See it: Mets closer Edwin Diaz is making progress in his knee rehab.
In this story:

Slowly, but surely, Mets closer Edwin Diaz is making strides in his recovery from patellar tendon surgery.

On Monday, a video of Diaz on a stationary bike emerged on social media.

Diaz tore the patellar tendon in his right knee in March while celebrating during the World Baseball Classic.

He underwent surgery the following day and was given a 6-8 month timeline for recovery.

While Diaz is expected to be out for the entire 2023 season, there is a chance he can pitch late in the year if his rehab is closer to six months.

With Diaz out, David Robertson has stepped up as the Mets' primary closer. Robertson has been stellar so far with a 0.63 ERA and six saves in 14 appearances

Diaz had a superb season for the Mets in 2022, in which he was an All-Star and won the National League Reliever of the Year Award.

The Mets re-signed Diaz to a five-year, $102 million deal in the offseason.
