He's gone.

Slugging first baseman Luke Voit has opted out of his deal with the New York Mets.

The Mets granted Voit his release from the organization in order to explore opportunities with other teams before the season ends.

The Mets signed Voit to a minor league contract on June 12.

During his time with Triple-A Syracuse, the slugger hit .264/.415/.643 with a 1.058 OPS, 14 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Due to the lack of production from the DH position at the big-league level, the Mets could have possibly used Voit. However, they did not promote him and he ultimately opted out of his deal.

Voit's best years in the majors came with the New York Yankees from 2018-2021. But he was replaced by Anthony Rizzo at first base at the 2021 trade deadline.

Voit has since spent time with the San Diego Padres, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers and Mets.
