It was a long time since the Baltimore Orioles achieved the level of success that they accomplished during the 2023 season.

1980 was the last time they won 100 or more games, 2014 was the last time they won the AL East division and 2016 was the last time they made the playoffs.

This young Orioles group accomplished all of those things last year and are looking to create a legacy of their own in this city.

The Baltimore Ravens have been able to do that since they were established in 1996.

They have made the playoffs 15 times, won their division seven times and have two Super Bowl championships since their first season in the National Football League.

But for the first time in history, both Baltimore teams won their division in the same year, as the Ravens throttled the Miami Dolphins 56-19 on Dec. 31 to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC and lock up their division.

The Orioles would love to regain the success they once had and that the Ravens have been able to capture.

With what the front office has been able to build in Baltimore, they could have an opportunity to do that. Their young roster should have them competing for division and championship titles for years to come.

Of course, things are a little different in the NFL as their salary cap prevents teams from being able to outspend others like in the MLB.

But with a strong pipeline in place and the ability to develop these future stars, Baltimore will have two teams on a championship trajectory.
