Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was named the American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday, making him the second Oriole to win a season-ending award this week.

Gunnar Henderson, the team’s third baseman, was named the American League Rookie of the Year on Monday.

Hyde was up against Texas manager Bruce Bochy, who led the Rangers to their first World Series victory, and Tampa Bay’s Kevin Cash.

Voting was based on regular-season results and conducted by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Hyde, in his fifth season as Orioles manager, led them to a winning record for the second straight season. He guided Baltimore to an AL-best 101 wins, won the AL East title and made their first postseason appearance since the AL Wild Card game in 2016.

The Orioles fell to the Texas Rangers, 3-0, in the AL Division Series.

Hyde now has a career record of 313-393 and has guided the Orioles to two straight winning seasons. The O’s were 83-79 in 2022, a season after they lost 110 games.
