Orioles Favored to Host Upcoming All-Star Game
It's been more than 30 years since the Baltimore Orioles last hosted the MLB All-Star Game at Camden Yards, but that streak could be coming to an end soon.
According to a recent report from MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the Orioles are the favorites to host the 2029 event.
The locations of the next three All-Star Games have already been set. The defending champion Texas Rangers will host at Globe Life Field in 2024, followed by the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in 2025 and the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in 2026.
Beyond that, the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs are current favorites to host in 2027 and 2028 -- the final two years of Commissioner Rob Manfred's tenure.
After that, however, it could finally be Baltimore's turn.
Charm City hasn't hosted the Midsummer Classic since 1993 -- the year after Camden Yards opened. At the time, it was one of the newest and nicest parks in baseball. Decades later, it still ranks among the best places to watch a ballgame.
The only other time the Orioles hosted the All-Star Game was in 1958 at Memorial Stadium.
It will likely be a few years until the venue for the 2029 All-Star Game is set, but it's exciting for Baltimore fans that their stadium is at the top of the list.
It will be something else to look forward to and potentially a great way to cap a decade of Orioles dominance, assuming their impending dynasty comes to fruition.
