Baltimore Orioles Finalize Major League Coaching Staff

The Baltimore Orioles formally announced their full Major League staff for the 2024 season.

The Baltimore Orioles announced its official Major League coaching staff for 2024 on Friday.

The staff is led by sixth-year manager Brandon Hyde, who guided the Orioles to a 101-win season in 2023. He was named the AL Manager of the Year, a season after he led the Orioles to 83 wins and finishing second in voting for that award.

The vast majority of the staff is returning, but the most prominent addition is new pitching coach Drew French.

His hiring was previously reported. French replaces Chris Holt, who is now Baltimore’s director of pitching.

French has never been a pitching coach at the Major League level. With the Houston Astros he was became the pitching coach of their Triple-A affiliate in 2019. Then, in 2020, he moved on to serve as the bullpen coach for the Atlanta Braves. That helped him earn a World Series ring in 2021.

With the Orioles he will guide a young staff anchored by Kyle Bradish, who finished in the Top 5 in Cy Young voting and was Second-Team All-MLB last season.

Assisting French will be Mitch Plassmeyer. The new assistant pitching coach was previously with the Orioles as their minor league pitching coordinator and replaces Darren Holmes, who is now the bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs.

The last new addition is Grant Anders, who will serve as the Orioles’ Major League development coach. He has been the Orioles’ Major League player development analyst for the past two seasons.

The rest of the staff returning from 2023 includes bench coach Fredi González, co-hitting coaches Matt Borgschulte and Ryan Fuller, offensive strategy coach Cody Asche, base coaches Tony Mansolino and Anthony Sanders, field coordinator Tim Cossins and Major League coach José Hernández.
