Baltimore Orioles' New Addition Ready to Win Now With Franchise

While the offseason has been a bit quiet so far for the Baltimore Orioles, their new addition signals that it's 'win now' mode for the organization.

Beyond the large market clubs across Major League Baseball, the Baltimore Orioles were one of the teams that many people have been keeping their eye on this offseason.

Rumors that they might be willing to spend money on free agents and loads of talented prospects in their farm system that can be used in trades have turned them into a team that has been thrown around in just about every situation.

That major splash has not happened yet, but the Orioles were able to sign Craig Kimbrel to a contract that addressed one of their needs heading into 2024.

The nine-time All-Star also gave some interesting insight about the franchise and what their mentality is currently.

"They want to win and they want to now ... I want to win and the Orioles want to win. They want to go deep in the playoffs. The same thing that I want. So, when you see those commonalities, it just makes a lot of sense, and I couldn’t be more excited," he said according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.

Baltimore certainly has the pieces in place to compete right now.

They won 101 games last season and are filled with young talent, who are continuing to improve.

That's something that enticed Kimbrel to sign with the Orioles, knowing he doesn't have much time left in his career.

"When I’m looking for a team, I’m looking for an opportunity. The opportunity is definitely there in Baltimore ... To come in and fill those shoes and keep this team on a good roll, I fully expect to do that. That’s why I signed here, that’s what I’ve been doing my whole career, and I think that’s part of the reason why the Orioles wanted me to come here and just keep the train rolling and keep the wheels going. That’s what I’m coming in to do and I fully expect to do it and do it at the highest level," the veteran closer said.

So, despite the front office not making a splashy move yet that was previously expected to happen this offseason, other players around the league view this as a great opportunity for them to win a championship.

That is a clear message that Baltimore is ready to compete for a World Series now.
