Baltimore Orioles' Star Prospects Are Showing the Future is Now
The only thing hotter than the weather down in Florida these days is the hitting of the Baltimore Orioles' top prospects.
That was apparent once again on Tuesday as the Orioles blasted the Toronto Blue Jays 13-8, improving their Spring Training record to 19-5.
Baltimore clobbered four home runs, including dingers by Jackson Holliday, Colton Cowser and Connor Norby -- three of the organization's top seven prospects, per MLB Pipeline.
After the game, Holliday -- the No. 1 prospect in baseball -- was in awe of the fireworks display, which was only the latest example of the Orioles' bright future.
It's hard to disagree with Holliday. Baltimore already had the best record in the American League last year with 101 wins and is about to graduate another wave of star prospects.
Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson and Grayson Rodriguez were just the first, and they're about to get plenty of reinforcements.
Holliday is doing everything he can to make the Opening Day roster. In addition to his homer on Tuesday, he beat out a routine grounder to shortstop and made a nice play in the field, showing off his wheels and defense.
He's batting .326 with a .998 OPS this spring and looks ready for the big leagues.
Cowser has been even better, batting .351 with five home runs, 10 RBIs and a 1.251 OPS. His homer on Tuesday was absolutely mashed, traveling 463 feet -- the third-longest homer of Spring Training.
And they're just the tip of the iceberg.
Kyle Stowers has a 1.086 OPS, Coby Mayo has a .979 OPS and Norby has an .870 OPS.
Spring Training stats don't count, of course, but they're still encouraging.
The Orioles have more talent than they know what to do with -- a good problem to have.
Their dynasty is about to begin.
