Baltimore Orioles Star Provides Encouraging Update On Injury
The Baltimore Orioles got an encouraging update on St. Patrick's Day, one that should brighten the hopes for Opening Day which is now less than two weeks away.
Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle has been dealing with a neck injury that has kept him out of the lineup and game action for the last four-plus games. Neck injuries are never a great sign and missing playing time even less so.
Again, it's MLB Spring Training, so extra precaution is always taken when it comes to injuries. Still, there is worry when a neck injury correlates to missed time no matter the time of year.
According to MASN, Mountcastle said his neck is feeling better and he could be back in the lineup after their off day on Monday. He apparently felt his neck lock up when he was taking a swing.
Mountcastle has played a pivotal role in the upswing of Baltimore coming out of their rebuild. The first baseman had an excellent 2023 MLB season where he slashed .270/.328/.452 with 18 home runs over 115 games.
The Florida native is entering his fifth season in the Majors and will once again expect to play a major role in the Orioles' continued success in the American League East.
After a very successful offseason, second only to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore should be considered a very serious World Series contender.
With the addition of Corbin Burnes through what was the most significant trade of the winter and closer Craig Kimbrel, all eyes are on Orioles to see exactly what this young club is capable of.
