Major League Baseball might be witnessing one of the best farm systems ever put together reaching the bigs at the same time as the Baltimore Orioles continue to eye roster improvements.

The last rebuild like this was with the Houston Astros, and they were able to put together a dynasty that's seen a record seven straight ALCS appearances, four World Series trips, and two championships.

If the Orioles can do something even remotely close to what the Astros have accomplished, then this entire process will have been a major success.

To do that, Baltimore will need their star prospects to develop into elite players just like what happened with Houston.

So, it's a great sign that one of their rookies has put together a great start to the season that earned him a coveted honor after last week.

Colton Cowser had himself a monster week that earned him this coveted honor.

The outfielder was considered their No. 4 prospect in 2023 and he made his debut on July 5 last season. He spent 26 games with the Orioles before getting sent back down to Triple-A after he struggled with a slash line of .115/.286/.148, zero home runs, four RBI, and 22 strikeouts over 61 at-bats.

It's been a completely different story for the 24-year-old in 2024.

After the incredible week that Cowser put together, he's slashing .441/.474/.971 with four homers and 13 RBI. He is now leading Baltimore in home runs and is tied for first in RBI without being an everyday outfielder as of now.

If he can continue this type of performance throughout the entire season, he'll have a real opportunity to win the AL Rookie of the Year award, giving this franchise their second consecutive winner.
