The Baltimore Orioles have the brightest future in baseball if their young talent develops the way they're expected to.

However, there's a scenario where they can start adding proven players by trading for stars during the year. The Orioles did exactly that when they traded for Corbin Burnes in the offseason, sending DL Hall and Joey Ortiz out in the deal.

Pitching should still be a priority for them, and with others likely to hit the trade market prior to the deadline, sending another prospect or two for a high-level arm could be a wise decision.

Baltimore has a surplus of prospects and at some point, they'll have to move some of them. They simply have too many, and while that's a good problem to have, moving them for proven talent could be the better option for them competing to win a championship.

Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report listed the Orioles as a potential landing spot for Pete Alonso, a veteran who's shown he can play at the highest level.

In a scenario where they land Alonso, the New York Mets could be intrigued by the prospects Baltimore has to offer.

Alonso hasn't been a name typically discussed when looking at potential additions for the Orioles, but landing someone who can hit 50-plus home runs in a season would be a benefit to this young lineup.

The right-handed slugger has hit at least 37 bombs in every year of his career besides the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

Alonso would likely be a rental as he's set to hit free agency at the end of the season, so his price could be lower than expected.
