Executives Predict Orioles Star Prospect Will Finish Second in ROY Voting
The 2023 season was just the start of something special brewing for the Baltimore Orioles. With 101 wins and taking home the American League East title, the Orioles are in a position to win a World Series in the near future.
Baltimore has clear talent on the roster, but their farm system, regarded as the best in baseball by a wide margin, has them set up better than any team moving forward.
Jackson Holliday, the consensus top prospect in baseball, has a real chance of debuting in 2024. He was the No. 1 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft and has slashed .320/.449/.490 in 671 plate appearances across the minors.
So far, the left-handed hitting Holliday has lived up to the hype but will attempt to do the same thing when he makes his Major League debut.
MLB.com recently polled executives around the league to see who they believe is going to win the Rookie of the Year awards in the American and National League.
The poll saw Holliday receive 30% of votes, 6% less votes than Texas Rangers' rookie, Evan Carter.
Carter spent time in the big leagues in 2023 and was a huge piece to the Rangers' World Series-winning team. His experience could certainly play a factor in how he produces next season. but Holliday will have all eyes on him the day he gets called up.
Holliday is expected to compete for a roster spot in Spring Training and should be called up within the first few months of the season if everything goes well for him.
At that point, it's up to the superstar prospect to show everyone why he has the chance to be one of the top players in baseball at the highest level.
