It's already known that the Baltimore Orioles will be missing two of their projected starters to begin the season as Kyle Bradish was placed on the injured list already and John Means is a month behind schedule.

They were expected to have huge roles in 2024 with Bradish coming off a fourth-place finish in AL Cy Young voting and Means getting back from Tommy John surgery.

As of now, there is no indication that they will miss extended periods of time.

MLB.com has Bradish's expected return date sometime in April or May, and Means' return in April.

The Orioles got some good news with their recovery progression after Jake Rill of MLB.com reported that Bradish had a side session where he only threw fastballs and Means also threw pitches in the bullpen.

For Baltimore, all they can hope for right now is there are no setbacks.

Their star right-hander was able to progress to throwing off the mound for the first time all spring with manager Brandon Hyde saying he felt good after getting done.

No matter how fast Means progresses, it's already been revealed he won't pitch at all during Spring Training.

Because of that, he's not going to be part of the Opening Day rotation.

However, if he continues to advance through the rehabilitation steps quickly and without issue, there's a chance he could return in early April instead of middle or later that month.

The good news for the Orioles is they've been able to build a roster that can compete in the short term without these two players.

Their offense is littered with elite hitters and they might be able to win them games early on while Bradish and Means recover.

Baltimore will continue to monitor how these two feel as they work towards getting back on the field, but it's looking very positive right now.
