Orioles Star Outfielder Considered Top-100 Player According to MLB Network
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander has made MLB Network’s Top 100 Player's right now list at No. 86.
This is his first time on that list.
It's quite the accomplishment from the 2016 Rule 5 player out of the Cleveland Guardians organization. Former Orioles general manager Dan Duquette sure hit on that pick.
Santander has been a solid piece to Baltimore's lineup and a big part of the rebuild after new GM Mike Elias took over after the 2018 season.
In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, it looked like he was on his way to a possible American League MVP before getting injured and missing the rest of the year.
During that shortened season, Santander slashed .261/.315/.575 with 11 home runs, 25 extra-base hits and 32 RBI over 37 games.
The past two seasons, the slugger has put up his best numbers and has played in all but 19 games.
The healthier he is, the more of an impact he has for this young Orioles club, which is why he was able to make the MLB Network’s Top 100 list for the first time in his career.
Santander might even take his game to the next level this year as he will be hitting the free agent market when the season ends.
There's a potential he could hit his career highs in home runs, RBIs, batting average, and OPS numbers in order for him to land a big contract that he’s worked hard to get.
Maybe that's with Baltimore, or maybe it's with somewhere else, but the star slugger has certainly proven he's a valuable piece for any team interested.
