The Baltimore Orioles are going to have a star-studded roster when they take the field against the Pittsburgh Pirates for their Spring Breakout game that will showcase the top prospects across baseball.

While many of these players have gotten opportunities on the field during Spring Training, this is a chance for just the young talent to be showcased.

It will be a who's who for the Orioles as seven of their top-10 prospects will be on full display.

The obvious headliners are Jackson Holliday, rising star Samuel Basallo, Connor Norby, and Coby Mayo.

Baltimore fans should expect at least three of these minor leaguers to get called up at some point this season, with Basallo still needing time to develop despite his bright future.

Many of the viewers will be tuned in to see what Holliday can do as he continues to fight for an Opening Day spot, but it might be another star prospect who steals the show.

The Orioles' No. 4 overall prospect, Mayo, has put together a great showing during spring so far.

Across 16 games and 32 at-bats, he's tied for the third-most hits on the team (10), leads in doubles (5), is tied for the RBI lead (9), and has only struck out seven times with six walks.

That's impressive for a 22-year-old who finished up his third year of professional baseball in 2023.

Mayo also is a power hitter, something that could be on display during Spring Breakout.

"No player in Baltimore's farm system has a more powerful bat than Mayo. The 22-year-old third baseman slugged 29 homers and posted a .973 OPS in 140 games between Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Bowie last season," writes Jake Rill of MLB.com.

The talented third baseman is proving that he should also be considered a future piece of this organization as he waits until he hears his named called to play in the bigs for the first time.

Mayo having a great showing during this stretch of the calendar would certainly go a long way to ensure he's one of the first call-ups when that time comes.
